Sabine Scheunert Mercedes-Benz Speaker Interview
Sabine Scheunert Mercedes-Benz Speaker Interview – Stuttgart
Why are you speaking at the Women Automotive Summit?
I am proud to be a part of this event, not only as a female leader in the automotive industry, but as a female leader in IT. The automotive industry is undergoing significant changes, and is in the midst of a digital revolution – therefore it’s never been a more crucial time to encourage women’s participation in this industry. It simply makes social and economic sense.
Why do you think such an event is important to the industry?
It’s no secret that the automotive industry has been historically male-dominated. There is a clear need for diversity in order for this industry to survive, evolve, and thrive.
My hope is that not only will this event connect and encourage women to join our industry, but to encourage women in tech and IT to make a significant impact to its endurance.
What will you be speaking about and contributing to the event?
I’ll be speaking about how diversity brings new solutions to the challenges faced by our industry. Diversity is critical to novel problem-solving. Diversity is fundamental to innovation. Why? Because diversity opens up mindsets, viewpoints and perspectives in a way that homogeneity can never do.
What is the most challenging issue currently a ecting the automotive industry?
I believe that one of the most critical issues is speed of innovation. This a ects every single aspect of the way the auto industry has historically worked: from its processes, to its culture, to its people.
The war on digital talent is huge, and major players need to position themselves as extremely attractive, stimulating, and supportive workplaces in order to secure the next generation of tech talent.
What do think the future holds?
The industry is widening its scope from auto-producer to mobility solutions provider.
The future is in enabling the mobility of people and goods in the most human-centric, easy, life-changing way.
We at Daimler are working towards this goal, driven by our core purpose: First Move the World. It’s in our blood, in our DNA. And we want to continue to move humanity forward now, and in generations to come.
